2025: A Year to Be Bold for Missions
As we look ahead to 2025, let us consider it a pivotal year for missions, a time to prioritize the needs of those seeking both the Gospel and essential resources for a better life. The work of missionaries is as necessary today as it has ever been; they continue to bring light and hope to communities that might otherwise be left in darkness. Missionaries often work tirelessly to meet both the spiritual and physical needs of others, striving to transform lives in Christ’s name. This coming year, may we as a church commit to supporting their calling and the people they serve.
Recognizing the Urgency of Missions
Today’s world is marked by conflict, poverty, and spiritual emptiness, with millions lacking access to the Gospel and basic necessities. Jesus’ command to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19) reminds us that every person is valuable and in need of hearing God’s Word. Missionaries reach beyond their own communities to meet people where they are, often in challenging circumstances. Their work is crucial in addressing both spiritual and social needs, and 2025 is the perfect year to renew our dedication to this mission.
Building Up the Community and Supporting Leaders
As 2025 approaches, we are inviting community leaders and churches to consider their role in missions. Leaders have the unique opportunity to inspire and encourage their congregations to make a lasting impact on others. Let’s work together to identify needs within our communities and beyond, committing to sharing Christ’s love and mercy. As Philippians 2:4 encourages, “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” By leading the way, pastors and church members can help build communities that reflect God’s love.
Financial Support: A Vital Contribution to Missions
Missionaries often depend on financial support to sustain their work. Donations are an essential form of partnership in missions, allowing them to provide food, shelter, education, and medical care alongside the message of salvation. By contributing financially, you participate directly in their work, helping them fulfill the mission God has placed in their hearts. As Romans 10:15 says, “How can anyone preach unless they are sent?” Your support enables missionaries to go boldly and meet needs in a fallen world.
The Power of Prayer and Encouragement
In addition to financial support, missionaries deeply value your prayers and words of encouragement. They face obstacles-language barriers, cultural differences, and physical hardship—that can weigh heavily on their spirits. Pray for their endurance and courage, and let them know that they are not alone in their efforts. Through prayer and communication, we can lift them up and empower them to continue their mission with renewed strength and faith.
