The Cost of Preaching the Gospel to Save the Lost

Preaching the Gospel to save the lost is a mission fraught with challenges and sacrifice, yet it remains the greatest calling of the Christian faith. Jesus Christ modeled this mission through His life, teaching, and ultimate sacrifice on the cross. Today, missionaries carry forward this mandate, often paying a significant price to bring the message of salvation to unreached people. This 2025 is a year that calls for bold action in missions, let us consider the cost of preaching the Gospel and how we can support those on the front lines of this sacred work.

The Challenges Missionaries Face

Preaching the Gospel to the lost often places missionaries in the midst of immense challenges. Many serve in regions where Christianity is not welcome, risking persecution, imprisonment, and even death for their faith. Others face the emotional toll of leaving family, friends, and familiar comforts behind. Yet, despite these trials, missionaries remain steadfast, embodying Christ’s words: “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first” (John 15:18). Their courage serves as a testament to the power of God’s calling and His sustaining grace.

The Sacrifices of Ministry

The cost of missions extends beyond personal risk. Missionaries often endure financial struggles as they rely on donations to fund their work. In addition, they may live in harsh conditions, forgoing basic comforts to serve communities in need. These sacrifices reflect the heart of the Gospel: self-denial for the sake of others. As Paul writes in Philippians 3:8, “I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things.”

The Spiritual Role of Missions

The ultimate goal of missions is not just to preach, but to bring people to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Missionaries disciple new believers, plant churches, and train local leaders to ensure the Gospel’s enduring presence. Their work fulfills the Great Commission: “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). This spiritual transformation often leads to social renewal, as communities touched by Christ begin to reflect His love and justice.

Transforming Communities Through the Gospel

When the Gospel takes root in a community, it transforms more than individual lives. Families are restored, education becomes a priority, and social injustices are addressed. Christ’s message of love, forgiveness, and hope brings light to dark places, inspiring lasting change. The sacrifices of missionaries are multiplied as entire communities are drawn into the redemptive work of God’s Kingdom.

Let us commit to supporting the courageous individuals who bear the cost of preaching the Gospel to save the lost. Their sacrifices remind us that the mission of Christ is worth every price. Through our prayers, encouragement, and financial contributions, we can share in their mission and advance God’s Kingdom on earth.

UPDATES

Hosea y Hadassah

Ministry Updates:

  • We are making progress in the Arabic language. We are praying a lot for our Arabic teachers. They are all Muslim and most are from Palestine, there is a lot of hatred in their hearts against Israel. We believe God is answering prayers because we have had several spiritual conversations about who Jesus is to us and my wife has prayed for some in times of sickness.

Financial Needs:

  • Our biggest financial need now is to pay for the next year of Arabic school. Thanks to the school we have student residency, it is what allows us to be in this country. In order to be able to renew that residency this year, it is necessary to pay for a whole year of Arabic class for me alone. Because I have the residence, Hadassah is free because she is my wife. It is 6000 dollars that we need.

Personal/Spiritual Needs:

  • Pray that God will give us strength and wisdom. We need joy in the storm and perseverance in Christ.
