Ministry Journey

Focus

Fidel is a pastor at Horeb Baptist Church in Lima, Peru. He is currently involved in the development of professional, youth, and pastoral camps.

He also contributes to a social outreach program to serve vulnerable populations, such as children and women needing spiritual and social assistance. He implements a program called ECAM, Escuela y Capacitación Ministerial each year.  With this ministry, Fidel visits vulnerable areas to assist in literacy, health, ministerial, and job training programs.

Journey

Fidel was born in Aucayacu, Tingo María, Huánuco. At the age of 17, he emigrated to Lima, the capital of Peru, to continue his studies. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Education and has worked extensively in the field. He subsequently pursued theological studies and graduated with a Master’s degree from Landmark Baptist Theological Seminary.

At Horeb Baptist Church, where he later served as pastor, Fidel encountered Christ as his savior at the age of 18. He is grateful to God for saving him and allowing him to become part of His purpose and plan—the extension of His kingdom to many through the preaching of His Word.

God called Fidel to the ministry in 2005, initially as a pastoral leader, and then in 2007 as pastor of the church where he currently serves. He has been ministering at Horeb Baptist Church ever since.

God has bestowed upon Fidel the privilege of attending to the following ministerial requirements:

  1. By God’s grace, he has planted new churches, each with its pastor.
  2. He leads a mission in Peru to establish new churches.
  3. He mentors two important camps: the Professionals’ Camp, aimed at motivating young professionals to get involved in ministry through the local church, and the Ideal Couple Camp, designed to address the diverse emotional and sentimental needs of single Christian and non-Christian young people, single parents, and single mothers, guiding them towards making wise spiritual, emotional, and sentimental decisions regarding their family life.
  4. He collaborates with the church to create an annual Ministerial Training and Empowerment program to provide spiritual, academic, social, and vocational care to vulnerable Christian and non-Christian populations.

Fidel is married to Nélida Maribel Peralta Vera de Gómez and has two children: Fidel Jhonatan and Kharen Jennifer.
