Description

Costa Rica, officially named as Republic of Costa Rica, is a sovereign state composed of seven provinces organized as a unitary presidential republic. It is located in Central America and is bounded to the north by Nicaragua, to the east by the Caribbean Sea, to the southeast by Panama, and the west by the Pacific Ocean. San José is its capital, political and economic center, and Cocos Island is its southernmost point.

Costa Rica has a high tourist potential and is regarded as one of the most popular international destinations. This country also provides an excellent environment for investments and the establishment of major multinational corporations, owing to its recognized academic level, high standard of current services, and socio-political stability.

According to IMF data, Costa Rica is the world’s fifty-fifth most prosperous country. Moreover, it is one of the most stable in the Americas, with a stable and long-lived democracy that is among the most functional in the world and an adequate capacity for social mobility that allows it to achieve high overall progress concerning the distribution and size of its economy.

Despite its small size and covering only 0.03% of the planet’s surface, the country is home to 5% of the world’s biodiversity. In addition, 25.58% of its territory is protected under various conservation measures.
