Focus
K and L are a couple from Colombia who are currently serving in Jordan, a Middle Eastern country. They have been in the field for approximately one year and eight months, and during this time their focus has been to learn the native language of this people (Arabic) and to have a cultural immersion through relationships with the locals, creating long-term friendships with whom they can share the message of salvation.
Journey
K converted 15 years ago, and he is the first in his family. Since his conversion, his heart has been passionate about cross-cultural work and preaching the word. In addition, he participates in sports and has spent over 6 years working with an organization that uses sports as a tool for evangelization. During this time, he gained extensive knowledge about this tool and was able to train himself intentionally. K loves working with young people and teenagers, and since 2019 he has become passionate about cycling. He realized this could help him relate to more people and share.
L, on the other hand, is a cradle Christian, but her real encounter with the Lord occurred at the age of 17, when she decided not to be a nominal Christian anymore, but to really believe. From a young age, she has served in her local church as a children’s teacher, with the youth, and in missions. Together with her church, she has undertaken various short-term trips within Colombia to support the work of local churches and indigenous communities.
In 2019, the family went on an exploratory trip, and since that time they have trained in different areas to be more effective in communicating and evangelizing the message. K is a soccer coach with a FIFA Category C license who works with children. As part of their ministry, he and his wife play soccer and cycle with nearby residents and teach them Spanish. Currently, they are residing in a “transit” city, the capital, to immerse themselves in the language and culture. Their long-term goal is to settle in a smaller, unpopulated city, where they can serve as pioneers and utilize the aforementioned tools. They also aim to serve as a bridge for more Latino workers who wish to engage in sports and teaching among Muslims.
