Focus
Roland Idohou is a devoted servant of God and the founding pastor of Église Évangélique Salem, a vibrant evangelical church based in the Republic of Benin, one of Africa’s most peaceful nations. His ministry is committed to preaching the Gospel to the poor, healing the sick, and caring for orphans, with a particular emphasis on community transformation and compassionate outreach.
Since its official establishment in 2008, Église Évangélique Salem has made a significant impact in the region. The church has supported over 80 children, providing them with meals, school uniforms, and tuition, and has invested in the local community by constructing a borehole to supply clean water. Furthermore, the ministry has expanded its reach by planting two additional church branches in nearby communities.
Pastor Idohou is a husband and father, serving faithfully with years of pastoral and missionary experience. He now seeks to build partnerships that will enhance the reach and effectiveness of the mission entrusted to him by God.
Journey
Born into a family devoted to idolatry, Roland Idohou once worked as a professional photographer. His life took a dramatic turn in 1993 when he experienced spiritual rebirth, and later, in 1999, he fully committed his life to Christ at a crusade event, marking the beginning of a lifelong calling to serve the Lord.
After his conversion, Roland dedicated himself to spiritual growth and ministry. He received extensive practical training over seven years through missionary service with Winners Chapel and Divine Grace Ministries, learning under the mentorship of seasoned Christian leaders. In 2001, he earned his Doctorate in Divinity, further equipping him for theological and pastoral leadership.
Having served faithfully under multiple commissions and respected men of God, Roland began sensing a divine call to launch a new ministry. This calling was confirmed by several spiritual leaders, including his senior pastor, who laid hands on him in prayer and officially released him to begin the work.
With divine confirmation and spiritual covering, Église Évangélique Salem was established in 2008 as a model for optimism and restoration in Benin. Ever since, Pastor Idohou has ministered with passion, humility, and compassion, never forgetting the transformative power of the Gospel that once changed his own life.
He continues to labor faithfully in the vineyard of the Lord, seeking to glorify Christ through word and action, and invites others to join in the mission of reaching the lost, serving the needy, and building God’s kingdom in Africa.
