Focus

Carolina is a member of the mission agency Pioneros Internacional México (PIMEX) and currently serves full-time as a missionary in Ensenada, Mexico. Her ministry focuses on the deaf community, one of the largest unreached groups worldwide. Her vision is to empower deaf people to rise up as leaders and make disciples within their own community, using their language, Mexican Sign Language (LSM). 

Journey

Carolina was born and raised in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur. At age 12, she met Jesus and accepted Him as her Lord and Savior during a youth camp. At age 18, she felt God’s call to serve Him full-time, so she decided to obey and give up her plans to attend college. A year later, at age 19, she moved to Ensenada to study at the Agua Viva Bible Institute. During that time, she learned to serve people with various disabilities, and it was there that God opened her eyes to the need for more people in these communities—who are often overlooked by the church—to come to know Him. 

Upon completing his studies, he returned to Los Cabos, where he led a youth group and actively participated in the children’s and worship ministries at his local church. In 2021, the PIMEX mission agency presented him with the opportunity to serve the deaf community, marking the start of his training process. 

In November 2024, she moved back to Ensenada to begin serving full-time in this community. Her work includes interpreting from Spanish to Mexican Sign Language during medical appointments, administrative procedures, and job interviews, as well as leading Bible studies for deaf women. She also participates in catch-up classes for hearing children of deaf parents (HOPS), in organizing monthly events and an annual sign language retreat, and in conducting free medical clinics, among other activities.

Currently, she continues to serve in Ensenada while pursuing a degree in Education with the goal of contributing to better education for this community and as a means to serve them more effectively.
