Focus
Andrea currently serves as a missionary among the deaf community in Mexico, focusing on making the gospel accessible in Mexican Sign Language and training deaf disciples to impact their community. In Mexico, there are approximately 2.3 million deaf people, considered an unreached people group. Andrea serves full-time in Ensenada, Baja California, under the umbrella of the mission agency Pioneros Mexico, working to make God’s Word accessible to a community that has been historically forgotten but is deeply loved by God.
Journey
Andrea’s ministry includes various areas of service. She supports weekly Bible studies with deaf women, interprets worship songs into Mexican Sign Language, and accompanies deaf people to government offices, medical appointments, and job searches. In addition, she teaches remedial classes to CODE children (children of deaf adults) and works with five other missionaries to organize monthly community events, an annual camp conducted entirely in sign language, and medical events with an evangelistic focus. She undertakes all of this work to share the gospel and strengthen meaningful relationships within the deaf community.
Andrea was born and raised in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at age eleven, and at seventeen, she moved to Ensenada to study at the Agua Viva Bible Institute. During her training, God awakened in her a special sensitivity toward people with disabilities, particularly after a mission trip to Vizcaíno, where she had her first encounter with a deaf girl. She graduated from the Bible Institute in 2020 and returned to her hometown, where she served in the children’s and youth ministries of her local church.
In 2021, she formally began her missionary process, participating in training, and in November 2024, she went into the field to serve full-time among the deaf community in Ensenada. Currently, Andrea is also pursuing a bachelor’s degree in psychology, with the desire to have more tools to serve holistically the people God has called her to love and disciple.
