MANÁ Museo de la Biblia

Maná, Museo de las Sagradas Escrituras A. C. is the result of a vision held by the philosopher and theologian Cristian Gómez Macías. In 1974, Cristian Gómez Macías recognized the role of museums in bringing art and culture to everyone, and art and culture to everyone), he set out to create a repository for the most beloved, translated, and persecuted book. His goal in 1974—having recognized the role of museums (to bring art and culture to everyone)—was to create a repository for the most beloved, translated, and persecuted book in order to make the Scriptures, their beauty, and their history accessible to all.

To this end, Maná has developed an educational and museum-based outreach program:

  • Through the exhibition “From Papyrus to the Computer: The Bible, Over 4,000 Years of History”—accompanied by lectures, film screenings with discussions, and choral concerts—we open up biblical research to artistic, philological, theological, and philosophical perspectives.
  • Through the “Adopt a Bible” program, we connect the community with its bibliographic and spiritual heritage.
  • Through academic and research programs in Biblical Languages, Theology, Biblical Sciences, and Philosophy of Religion, society broadens its understanding of the vast richness of biblical manuscripts and their modern editions.
